Sewu-Steve Tawia

Sewu-Steve Tawia is a recognised leader and adviser with over 20 years of professional experience in Development Finance, Impact Investing, Venture Capital & Private Equity funds structuring, Angel and Early Stage investing, both in Europe and Africa. Throughout his professional and personal career, he has invested in SMEs in more than 25 sub-Saharan African countries across agribusiness, renewable energy and technology.

Mr Sewu-Steve Tawia is currently the Founder and CEO of Asime Partners, a development and investment advisory firm and Asime Ventures, a pre-Series A venture capital fund, based out of Nairobi and Accra. He has advised development finance institutions (AfDB, EIB, etc.), governments (Ghana, Kenya), donors (DFID, SIDA etc.) and businesses on capital raising, investment structuring and development programmes aiming at creating financial return and social impact through SMEs on the continent.

Mr Sewu-Steve Tawia is a fully bilingual English-French, He has managed more than US$ 350m of investments and projects across multi-cultural teams, in multiple geographies and facilitated over US$100m in investments in Africa, and catalysed over US$50m in investments into SMEs. He contributed to the foundation of two African organisations and impact funds including the AV Ventures, AECF as an independent entity, and IBC Equity Partners, as well as initiated various linkages between Luxembourg, France, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Kenya.

Mr Sewu-Steve Tawia is an alumnus of London Business School, Audencia Business School, and has an Executive leadership certificate from Stanford GSB. He is also an angel investor, mentor to agribusinesses, education and solar energy start-ups in Ghana, Kenya and Luxembourg. He holds a number of professional charters: CAIA (alternative investments), CIFE (Islamic Finance), Prince 2 (project management) and Toastmaster (public speaking) while being a Karate and Kizomba instructor.
