As the founder and President of the Global Platform for Women Entrepreneurs (PLAMFE) and Positive Initiatives for Women in Africa (AFIP), as well as a founding member of the National Platform for Women’s Leadership and Empowerment in Côte d’Ivoire (PNLFA), Désirée DJOMAND is an expert in local development and an auditor in population sciences.
Désirée DJOMAND, a committed and dynamic figure, has held various leadership roles within different organizations in Côte d’Ivoire. As a Municipal Councilor of the city of Grand-Bassam, she also chairs the permanent commission on Cultural and Social Affairs, demonstrating her commitment to the development of her community.
Her professional journey reflects her dedication to public service. She served as the General Coordinator of Development Programs for the Union of Cities and Municipalities of Côte d’Ivoire (UVICOCI), playing a crucial role in advancing local initiatives. She also led the HIV/AIDS program for AMICAAL, a global organization dedicated to combating HIV/AIDS at the municipal level, highlighting her commitment to public health.
Through the ACD organization, Désirée DJOMAND has led a variety of programs for nearly fifty municipalities, addressing key areas such as the economy, the environment, socio-cultural activities, and leisure. Her leadership has enabled the realization of significant projects and promoted sustainable development through these diverse initiatives.
In addition to her role within women’s organizations, Désirée DJOMAND has had a significant impact at the international level. She served as Secretary General of AIODM (International Alliance for Millennium Development Goals), a Swiss NGO in partnership with the United Nations, where she designed an innovative program called AIODM Millennium Villages. This program achieved notable success by involving populations from various countries across five continents, adopting a community-based approach to empower individuals in their own development.
In the context of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Désirée DJOMAND played a major role in organizing the African summit in Abidjan on the MDGs, in collaboration with the Ministry of State, Ministry of Development and Planning, as well as UNDP. She also initiated the MDG platform for innovative programs by mayors of Côte d’Ivoire and the MDG platform for the private sector, demonstrating her ability to mobilize various stakeholders for the achievement of development goals.
