Acceptance, Reconciliation and National Healing

For more than two centuries, Haiti has moved forward with untreated wounds. Aware that these fractures hinder prosperity and social cohesion, the International Black Economic Forum (FEIN), together with partners in Haiti and the diaspora, launched a collective reflection on Acceptance, Reconciliation and National Healing.

On April 22, 2023, more than 350 participants – artists, religious leaders, academics, youth, activists and community actors – gathered in a citizen non‑conference held on Zoom. The goal: to open an honest dialogue on Haiti’s wounds and to chart a common path toward healing and prosperity.

This initiative is not about copying a model from elsewhere. It is rooted in Haiti’s cultural heritage and practices such as the konbit (coming together), to build trust and strengthen social cohesion.

From these discussions emerged a citizen roadmap: a framework for guiding Haiti toward Vision 2033, a decade of healing and reconstruction founded on truth, justice and solidarity.
